Confessions

There will be confessions in St. Mary’s every Saturday evening before the Vigil Mass from 5.15pm to 5.45 pm. And on request at any other time.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Those children who wish to make their Confirmation, please could you come along to catechesis after mass in St. Mary’s. Starting Sunday the 18th of September. I haven’t a date yet for the Confirmations yet, but it will probably be the beginning of November.

Children’s Liturgy

We are hoping to restart the children’s liturgy again in St. Mary’s but for safeguarding regulations. We will need another two adults that have done the safeguarding course to help out. This is not a difficult course to go through, but without this there will be no Children’s Liturgy.

Exposition of the blessed sacrament

There will be exposition of the blessed sacrament every Friday morning after mass for half an hour.

Helping local families with Utilities and Food

At our Parish Council meeting we decided to earmark local families which would be most in need of help this winter. It was proposed that depending on the amount of money raised by the parishioners we will then decide how many families we can help.

We thank those who gave so generously to our collection, the monies raised where in the region of £1600 pounds, many thanks indeed for your generosity.

Mary Hurney R.I.P.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Hurney, to her family and friends we offer our love and prayers. Mary’s funeral service will be held in St. Mary’s at 10.15am on Monday the 14th of November.

S.C.E.S. Collection

Forming our young people in the Faith is very important to us. The Scottish Catholic Education Service (SCES) is the Church’s official Agency for supporting the education of our youth in Scotland. SCES directly supports our diocesan Catholic Primary Schools. We have no Catholic High Schools, but SCES successfully works with Local Authorities and local communities to improve the quality of what is offered to our young people. SCES also offers all our senior High School pupils to grow in their Faith through the Caritas Awards.

Next Sunday we have our annual Second Collection to support the work of SCES through BCOS. This year our diocese is required to raise £4,196.87. Last year the Collection raised £409.5. Thank you for your generosity.

Archbishop Mario Conti R.I.P.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of the former Archbishop of Glasgow Mario Conti. May his good soul rest in peace.
